Fourth Night In Internet Hell
I've Become A TechnoWuss...
The good news is my Internet service is back on.
The bad news it was out again last night for ANOTHER four hours.
A Comcast found my previous posting and commented here with an apology for my inconvenience.
Consider the apology accepted...

Al Gorgasms
Just in case you haven't noticed (else you have lapsed into a catatonic comma watching the Senate hearings on soon to be Supreme Court Judge Sotomayer) it's now July 17th, 48 days beyond the beginning of the official government declared and decreed "HURRICANE SEASON"...
And because I'm just really a silly little simple bigoted, egotistical, racist, backwoods redneck blogger...
And as our United States Congressional Assholes--residing in the House and the Senate--spend their time in front of the microphones and cameras considering putting an "enlightened Latina" on the "Supreme Court" and
But...
But...
I just have to ask...
Has anyone but me noticed that there HAS ONLY BEEN ONE TROPICAL "ANYTHING" IN THE ATLANTIC/GULF BASIN AND ONE IN THE PACIFIC BASIN AND TONIGHT THE NOAA PICTURE LOOKS LIKE THIS IMAGE:

No?
Nan?
Nada?
So all I have to say is screw Al Gore and screw all of you sniveling, booger eating, tree hugging global climate changin', eco-friendly crap heads...
GIVE US 0UR COUNTRY BACK AND GO FIND SOMEPLACE IN EUROPE TO LIVE...
Three Nights Of The Living Dead In Internet Hell
What Hair I have Left I'm Pulling Out...
This morning I'm tempted to utter the words: "screw the Internet and screw modern technology..."
That's said as I think back to what the past THREE nights have been like here in Eastern Tennessee.
Night before last Comcast decided to pull some kind of "maintenance outage" which lasted from somewhere after midnight until somewhere after 4 AM when I finally went to bed again.
That would also be after I spent most of FOUR HOURS resetting my cable modem and router and running around between our home server PC and two laptops trying to decide if the problem was internal or external.
I finally called the bastards and was matter of factly informed that there was in fact a "maintenance outage" and they had sent notification to my Comcast e-mail account to that effect.
I haven't logged on to a Comcast e-mail account since the first months after we signed up for their so called "high speed" Internet while living on our little Island back about 2004 because all I ever got was SPAM BS e-mails from Comcast trying to sell me something or tell me about a "partners" unwanted services.
So any way, then last night we were blasted with a weather front that came through and thunder and lightened and grumbled around for three or four hours dumping over two inches of rainfall in my back yard, and again about 12:30 the power went off here and in spite of having a giant 14 giggawatt battery back up on the server PC I elected to shut down and read some more of Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" out on the carport by flashlight (while smoking a cheap cigar.)
Theelectricity from the federal government power company juice from Tennessee Valley Authority started flowing again about 6:15 by the account given to me by our neighbors who were trying to shower and get out the door to work about then.
Just now I've begun to write this morning's rant after enduring another almost THREE HOUR unexplained Internet outage AGAIN....oh Oh OH Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......
Screw civilization and screw technology...I say that IF we actually need to communicate long distance to protect life and limb and property that we all better start buying ourselves a few thousand feet of string and some paper cups because if we stay reliant on the crap we're all relying on right now we're going to pay dearly some day pretty soon when the Koreans and Iranians get their way.
That will be all...for now...
Dammit...

I Can't Leave Well Enough Hard Enough Alone
Additional Pain & Suffering Courtesy of Home Depot...
I was staring at my railing painting project the past few days and couldn't help notice the pealing reddish/brown paint on the front porch and guess what???
I went BACK to Home Depot and spent another hundred dollars on Muric acid and paint stripper chemicals and grinding stuff and exterior concrete patio paint and now I have to go and burn my eyes and skin removing the crappy paint off the railing and the porch surfaces.
Did I mention getting the existing paint splatters off the front brick wall surfaces?
I'm crazy I guess but I've started and now I have to finish.
Dang it...

Grinding The Paint On My Wrought Iron Railings
Dying Of Lead Poisoning In The Process...
So here I am, finding myself immersed in the early stages of my latest home improvement project--attacking 46 years of paint, rust, and paint over rust on about 25 feet of ornamental steel/iron railing.
When we first moved in I had the intention of updating the appearance of the front porch with new columns and railings, but over the past 15 months the obvious heavy upgraded appearance and quality of the railings has grown on us...that and the reality of having limited funding at this time to take on such a project.
Thus after a $50 trip to Home Depot for some Rustolium, mineral spirits, and Bondo I'm now scraping and grinding away the bad spots while trying to avoid swallowing or inhaling paint chips and dust thrown up by the wire brush spinning in my drill.
Time to go back and do another section.

Most Explicatives Deleted
You Don't Even WANT To Know What I've Been Thinking...
Besides being busy doing some more Forensic Injuneering work between useless bouts of sitting beside the pool, I hate to admit that my blogging has suffered over the end of this past week because I just didn't have anything civil to write or say here.
The social and political insanity I see around me daily can only be ascribed or transcribe in what I consider to be profane terms, thus my silence as I watch Obama Rama Ding Dang and Nancy Pelosi and her Congressional puppets sputter and blither stupidity quoted as intelligent fact by various and sundry members of the lamestream national "professional" media.
I'm sorry ladies and gentlemen, but I've had it up to here (pointing to the top of my ever greying, ever balding soon to be 50 year old head.)
The "head Negro what be in charge" is a lieing crazy two faced bastard and the Democratic "white crackers" running around supporting him and celebrating his election are self serving simplistic fools who are hell bent on stealing all of your money and running the country into the ground in the name of "change we can believe in."
And Barney Frank is a lisping lieing thieving idiot who apparently spends more time thinking about sticking his penis in men's butts than running the country's business, and the reality that people like him and Al Franken can actually make it into the Senate tells me that we're all in a hell of a mess because I wouldn't trust these stupid assholes to run a car wash or a Laundromat let alone the largest country in the world..
That will be all...for now...

SEVENTY THOUSAND HITS
Milestones In Insignificant Blogging On Social Change...
I realize that by most media standards and even Blogger standards myslice of heaven little piece of the Internet here on this Blog is but a proton or neutron in the giant world of media in all forms, BUT...
I just noticed from the old Hit Counter that within the next 12 to 24 hours this Blog will be enjoying it's 70,000th visitor since I first started writing on August 8th, 2004.
Also, in that same process, with this posting, I will have written twenty three thousand and twenty eight essays or other postings since that day when I wrote on behalf of President Bush during his campaign against that useless windbag/stuffed shirt/Vietnam Veteran John sKerry in a posting called "Speaking for the President" (link).
If you are a regular reader, you also most likely understand that I realize that much of what I have written is not generally originally prophetic nor of any significant commercial value to anyone but ME, MYSELF, and I.
I also accept that much of what I have transcribed from my brain onto these pages of the Internet is annoying to some people and by some standards could be considered simplistic, inane, or down right bigoted in some circles.
That realization makes me only want to do more and more and more of the same, because every once in a while...maybe once in a few thousand or few tens of thousands of words I might strike a chord with someone else and at least make them think. They don't have to agree with me...only THINK about the topic I'm bitching about and possibly correct some error or misconceptions in their ways of living and doing business.
A single solitary success is a prescription averting failure in my book.
That said, understand these words...
For those of you that stopped by and actually cared about what (and possibly agreed with the positions) I was writing about, I thank you for your patronage.
For those of you which were offended but continued to stop here just to see what I would write next...I offer a hearty "you're welcome." Just consider this Blog to be like a train wreck or a car accident--a scene which you can't take your eyes off of as you pass it.
For my personal friends and family which tolerated my sometimes juvenile outbursts and used this page as a barometer with which to discover the level of my sanity or insanity and acted accordingly, I express my eternal gratitude for allowing me to remain out of the government institutions and roam the streets of this lovely planet and continue to inflict myself on the unsuspecting and innocent bystanders that are forced to deal with me on a daily physical basis rather from remote distances on the Internet.
I don't know what the Future holds from a blogging or on a (non)professional basis.
And I certainly don't know where I'm Goin'...but I sure know where I've been...and if I have any say in the matter...In the words of Captain Kirk:
It's Damn Sure Gonna Be "Where no man's gone before..." so stay tuned to this channel of the Internet.

Distracted
"Who Is John Galt?"
Let's see...what have I been doing besides NOT BLOGGING the past couple of days?
Things like...
Shucking and parboiling and creaming corn.
Tearing apart an old lawn mower engine...using a hammer and a gear puller (and some sockets.)
Reading technical papers on things like "spinodal curves" and BLEVE's and Water Hammer.
Sleeping late and staying up even later reading Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged." (That book will scare the crap out of you when you see what is happening in this Country today and realize it was first published back in 1957.)
Sitting for a few hours each day on the deck beside the Turbo Pup Pool...working on my suntan.
Filing about a million pages of business crap and three months of paid bills and banking info.
and finally...
Doing anything else but WATCHING NEWS COVERAGE ABOUT MICHAEL JACKSON.
Time to head to the pool now...y'all have a lovely afternoon...

In case you haven't noticed, I've done basically nothing the past few days but sit on my deck when I wasn't rewiring all of my basement shop and laundry lighting.
Ok...the basement wiring only took about four hours out of the past couple of days because I already had run the wires sometime last Summer and then procrastinated for the next 12 months because the existing wiring configuration scared me.
I finally figured out the spider web of 46 year old two wire conductors (copper with no ground) and managed to not electrocute myself or burn the house down in the process of making everything switched off a single switch instead of pull chains and added three new fluorescent light fixtures to the circuit.
Now theidiot with the weed eater lawn maintenance technicians have run us off the deck so here I am finishing a beer intended for the pool in front of the computer.
Maybe we'll out wait them and manage to stay a little longer.
Excuse me while I go check their progress...

Cheap Fresh Corn!!!
Creamed Corn Tomorrow...
The local corn crop has come in here in eastern Tennessee and we've been eating fresh roasted corn on the cob now for the past couple of weeks.
The local Super Target advertised it on sale for 10 cents per ear, so we wandered over and I bought the limit--FIFTY EARS--after lunch today.
How many ways can you prepare and eat corn?
I'll let you know later...

OK Ladies & Gentlemen...
Today Is June 30th on my Calendar.
Anybody but ME notice we've only had ONE "Tropical Anything" in the Atlantic and Gulf o' Mexico thus far in 2009?
And yet the Shitheads in our House of Representatives and our President and Nancy Pelosi (who with Mr. Jacko's death happens to also now lead the state of California as the person with the most Plastic Surgery) still insist on passing "Global Warming" or "Climate Change" legislation?
I'm sure that Bush and Cheney and Rove and Limbaugh are busy getting a hum dinger of a storm ready to hit some impoverished Caribbean Islands and come back to get all of the people Katrina missed, but in the mean time...
Until July and August fires things up again.
I have this to say...
YOU'RE A %&#@* IDIOT if you believe all of this "Man Made" Global Warming Crap.
Keep voting, and I'm going to laugh myself into my grave paying taxes for living the way I want to live and driving vehicles getting 9 MPG in the process while you die collecting your "earned income credits" and "carbon tax credits" and decrying the "evil rich people."
That will be all...for now...

Taking Advantage Of the Elderly
And Them Sometimes Taking Advantage of Everybody Else...
Since I'm hoping to live long enough to be considered "elderly" (but not really expecting to) I'm gonna be careful what I write here today...BUT.
Recently I was ready to pull out what little hair I had left at the grocery store while thrashing my way through the "self checkout" line.
Since the days on our Little Island when I went to Harris Teeter almost every day, I've become proficient at operating the self check terminals and can generally check myself out as quickly as all but the fastest cashiers.
Unless there's a regular check out line where I'm first or at most second I can generally go through the process solo in about the same time unless the attendant is unavailable to approve a beer/wine purchase or I've got 20 kinds of fruits and vegetables with no UPC code or product number and have to look them up.
Any way, yesterday morning about 10:15 AM the local Kroger only had ONE CHECKOUT LINE OPEN--and it had at lest five or six people standing with carts or baskets waiting with disgusted looks on their faces.
As I passed the four self checkout terminals I jumped in on the first one and then realized that with our giant cart full of paper towels and TP and stuff that it would never fit in the bagging area.
Then I noticed thatthis old geezer with black socks and plaid shorts lovely gayly dressed gentleman had the larger station with the four bag turntable tied up with his little 20 item order.
Any way, I proceeded to curse and fight my way through bagging up $100 worth of groceries and the computer kept objecting because I had to take stuff off the platform and put it in the floor to make more room for more stuff...and the attendant that was supposed to override the computer spent his entire time checking out the old gentleman and another couple of middle aged women with a giant cart fulled with probably twenty or thirty twelve packs of soft drinks.
The old guy might have managed to successfully scan half of his purchase by himself and the women just stood there saying "we're sorry...we don't know how to run these things..."
As I left the store ahead of both the geezer and the soft drink Queens I had to ask myself this...
"Why the heck are so many people so impatient and so selfish as to walk into the "self checkout" with giant purchases and NOT A SINGLE CLUE WHAT THEY ARE DOING rather than just standing in line and waiting at a regular checkout?"
My question actually contains the answer I think.
They're selfish and impatient. And whether they know it or not they hurt people like me that know how to run the system and can never get the attendant's attention the one or two times I need them because instead of waiting their turn the essentially "jump the line" by forcing the attendant to basically manually check them out in the "self check out line."
What kills me is that this happens all the time and the people have the audacity to do it and the stupidity to admit that they don't know what they're doing while they're doing it.
These same people most likely left their car sitting in the fire lane out front or leave their shopping carts sitting beside their parking space rather than taking the time to walk it over to the shopping cart corral.
Any way, we made it home with our provisions and had an excellent afternoon on the deck watching the Turbo Pup wear herself out (see yesterdays postings) and I cooked burgers and roasted corn on the cob and fries and then collapsed on the sofa about 7 PM.
Then this morning since the predicted rain was holding off I decided to tear down one of my front gutter downspouts and see what was clogging things up on that end of the house.
I cleaned the gutters twice already this year and that one end insists on overflowing with anything other than a light rain and that downspout is one of two that the old owner of the house (another elderly gentleman I never met) had had replaced before we bought the house last year. The new downspouts are the newer larger 3" x 5" cross sections and the two older--I presume original ones--are the smaller 2" x 4" size.
What was puzzling was that the entire gutter overflows so easily with the larger downspout when gutter runs only slightly shorter with the smaller spouts didn't have trouble handling the water. It took me about ten minutes climbing the ladder and drilling out pop rivets to discover the trouble.
When the idiot cheating lying contractor replaced the downspouts with the larger sized sections, the thieving moron didn't change out the connection fitting between the main horizontal gutter section with the downspout.
In fact, it's the smallest connection I've ever seen--about 2" in diameter. Doing the math the new gutter is over 5" larger in cross sectional area that the HOLE SUPPLYING WATER TO IT.
I thought my head would explode because our neighbors said that Tommie (the previous owner) had had problems for years and finally paid someone to install the larger downspouts in order to try to reduce the amount of overflow. The moronic contractor apparently came out, spent the time to build up the three elbows and straight sections to the proper length, then saved 15 or 20 minutes per spout and left the stupid small connectors in place--COMPLETELY DEFEATING THE PURPOSE OF THE RENOVATION EXERCISE IN THE FIRST PLACE.
I have very little patience for people that call themselves contractors and go around taking advantage of the elderly and retired people that no longer can do the work for themselves and may be in failing mental capacity.
There's a special place in hell for those folks, and their plumber and HVAC friends are in charge of the Ice Water and Air conditioning...

As I passed the four self checkout terminals I jumped in on the first one and then realized that with our giant cart full of paper towels and TP and stuff that it would never fit in the bagging area.
Then I noticed that
Any way, I proceeded to curse and fight my way through bagging up $100 worth of groceries and the computer kept objecting because I had to take stuff off the platform and put it in the floor to make more room for more stuff...and the attendant that was supposed to override the computer spent his entire time checking out the old gentleman and another couple of middle aged women with a giant cart fulled with probably twenty or thirty twelve packs of soft drinks.
