A House Divided Against Itself

Cannot Stand...

In the spirit of enduing the current political hysteria, I ask that you take a look at the wording of the Speech Abraham Lincoln delivered to the State Republican Convention in Springfield, MO in June 1858.

Here's the opening phrases and the "Money words" best remembered:

Mr. President and Gentlemen of the Convention.

If we could first know where we are, and whither we are tending, we could then better judge what to do, and how to do it.

We are now far into the fifth year, since a policy was initiated, with the avowed object, and confident promise, of putting an end to slavery agitation.

Under the operation of that policy, that agitation has not only, not ceased, but has constantly augmented.

In my opinion, it will not cease, until a crisis shall have been reached, and passed.

"A house divided against itself cannot stand."

With those words in mind, I can't help but wonder what Mr. Lincoln would think of our situation here in his beloved Republic today?

Denver Cops Grow Some Gonads?

Strange Policing...

Earlier last evening I saw the video of the wild eyed morons in the Denver DNC convention roughing up FOX News reporter and Blogger Mchelle Malkin on a public sidewalk while the Denver Police stood around and watched for at least five minutes.

Then later yesterday the same police department arrested an ABC investigative reporter/producer standing quietly on a public sidewalk in front of a hotel where supposed meetings were going on between DNC officials and "big money" donors.

Here...take a look...

Isn't it interesting that a guy can get manhandled and arrested by the Denver police for standing around on a sidewalk with a camera crew, but yet this same department charged with defending the public peace will stand by and watch a Moonbat scream at a five foot tall Asian girl for five minutes and do what...

Could it be because of the politics of the individuals involved?

And you say that kind of thing only happens in Russia and couldn't happen here in your good ol' US of A....RIGHT?

It's a slippery slope...people...and we're over the edge on the downward gradient and apparently picking up some speed now. How long before they're knocking at my front door because of something I say here on this blog?

You know how I feel about lamestream media and their reporters, but in this case I also have to call the situation a pile of total unmitigated CRAPPOLA...

Someone should file a lawsuit, in my Considered Redneck Opinion...

Taking A Knife To A Gunfight?

Then You'd Probably Like To Try Taking A Camera To A Funeral I Guess...

I bought some new clothes recently. Nice clothes from Joseph A. Banks--"The" Men's Clothier in our area.

Mostly they hang in my closet un-noticed, but unfortunately tonight I'm taking a Jacket, Tie, and lined Pants to a Funeral Home "viewing."

One of our neighbor's mother--we didn't know the lady but we like her daughter a good deal.

The only other reason those clothes have been outside the house was to go to a wedding.

Funny how the weddings get farther apart and the funerals keep getting closer and closer together these days...

My Thesaurus Of Stupidity

I was listening to sHrillary's speech tonight.

Here's my highlights:.

"Giving windfall profits to Oil Companies" = letting the privately held corporations and their stockholders keep the profits of their commercial enterprises.

"Investing" = taking money from the Oil Companies and their stockholders (and "Taxpayers") who earned it through the expenditure of their time and their taking of RISK and redistributing it to people who didn't earn the aforementioned "investment" funds...and on useless government programs like subsidies to "renewable energy programs" because...

Just because you were smart enough to earn "windfall profits" doesn't mean that you're smart enough to intelligently spend it without government intervention.

That will be all...for now...

All Blustering Aside...This One Might Be Serious...

OK, time to stop poking fun at the "Hurricane Hysterists" and get serious for a minute. I'm writing this after looking at the map before I change channels on the TV card to see what the Weather Channel Nerds are saying.

I just checked the 5 AM update on Gustov with NOAA

and they've predicted a more southerly/westerly track than they did at 11 PM last night, taking the storm over the warm waters between Cuba and Jamaica after washing all of the sewage out of the streets of the peninsula of Haiti.

Once it makes it across the western edge of Cuba late Saturday it looks like the whole US Gulf coast better be checking their stock of Bread, Ice, and Batteries.

A few people probably need to be gassing up their cars and tossing Grandpa and the dog into their slippers and crates in preparation for a hasty retreat by this weekend.

I say that there's nothing like a impromptu overnight sojourn to the Holiday Inn in Bumblestumble,Florida or somewhere in Eastern lower Alabama from the Florida coast--as long as you plan things in advance and leave before the tide pushes the water up to your front door and the wind speed exceeds 50 MPH.

For years Pat and I had longstanding plans to run inland into south Georgia's interior from our little Island if anything tropical actually managed to pose a serious threat to our bodies, our abode and our possessions. The idea was to move the extra car to high ground adjacent to the airport on the mainland and vamoose with the Turbo Pup and the safe, the pictures, and the computers and spend the evening singing Karaoke at the Holiday Inn Memorial Funeral Home and Hair Salon in Waycross, Georgia.

$200 well spent in my opinion.

Make your reservations early and often looks like Hurricane season is upon us finally.

Anything Look Familiar here?

History...Gotta Love It If You Can Just Remember It...

OK Folks, this evening let's take a look together at the latest tropical "global warming induced" threat on the Weather Channel:

Now let me remind you that back in October last year I wrote about another storm and published this NOAA image:

Quitting Putin Time

I Almost Forgot...

Back in December last year I wrote about this so called honor or "recognition" by the communist leftist leaning liberal editors over at Time Magazine:

Anyone but me think it's a bit funny today in light of the recent events in Georgia?

Yeah...I thought so...and the media won't remind you of this part of the story and their culpability in the situation, so it's up to me to do so.

Does anyone but me remember what they read and hear?

I say that the majority of the so-called VOTERS...DONT, and for that they should be disqualified from voting in this and any future election.

That will be all...for now...

Looking Forward To Yet Another Successful Week

Onward And Upward

Well, it's time to head back to the office again in a few hours, and looking back I'm amazed at the accomplishments of the past seven days. Let's review the totals here on "The Big Board":

  • 250 Tons of steel designed and detailed and submited for peer review

  • New Cannon MX850 Photo Printer installed, taking up almost half the office.

  • New Web Cam sitting on top of monitor (causing yet another round of cursing Microsoft.)

  • New Photo Shop CS3 lurking on hard drive waiting to assault old family photos

  • Home office purged of paper financial archival files and nearly reorganized so I can occasionally find my wallet and keys in less than ten minutes.

  • Missy the Turbo Pup firmly in charge of the proceedings.
All in all a successful use of time here in the new homestead on the banks of the Mighty Tennessee River, wouldn't you say?

Finally, take a look at my preliminary efforts on a scan of another old photo of some of the Sea Island Golf Caddy's working on the Georgia coast, Circa 1910:

I think that I can do better but my mind is still boggled by the new functions and filters I have access to in the software upgrade.

The New Shirts Are Here!!!

I Have My Own T-Shirt Line Now...

Click on This Link and Go here and take a look at my new product...

Better yet, buy one and I'll make a couple of bucks per shirt.

More Insensitive Computer Skulduggery...

I received this E-Mail from the Obama Campaign offering to sell me one of these Shirts:

I thought that the logo looked a little familiar, and after a little Googling and a few hours of using my new copy of Photoshop CS3, I came up with this alternative for your enjoyment, featuring the real symbol I believe was the inspiration for Candidate Obama and Bid(la)den's campaign:

Coincidentally I registered the domain name to support the sale of my own soon to be released shirts, coffee mugs, etc.

I have to go now...I think I hear the Secret Service knocking at my front door...
