Happy New Year...EARLY

The Month Is Over With For All Intents and Purposes...

Dang it but time is flying by on the calendar these days.  Before we know it it will be 2011, and I have a ton of stuff to accomplish between now and then.

I spent part of yesterday doing yet another home improvement project...enclosing the "portico" entrance to our basement under the front porch.

I'm installing one sash of the window I tore out of the back of the house when I put in a French door going out to the Turbo Pup's deck along with the old front door from the living room into a new short segment of wall so that we will in effect have a little vestibule area about 6' x 10' where I can keep some yard stuff and possibly store some plants inside in the winter.

I'm also looking at grow lamp options now and possibly some form of thermostatically controlled heat capability.

Somebody somewhere once said that "being a homeowner means that no matter where you sit and what you look at you can't help but see something that needs doing..."

I AGREE.

Meanwhile, back in my kitchen, I made my first test batch of Chocolate Truffels this week using some flavoring oils I bought last year and didn't have a chance to try out before.  I'm afraid I'm going to hurt myself this stuff is so good.

Pat and I have been walking into places and people are actually questioning me as to when my truffles are going to be available.  Apparently they remember that cold dry weather means Truffel season at our house.

I wish I had the patience to put my original scheme into operation and make Truffles for profit, but it's either just too hard or I'm too lazy so once again this year I'll just settle for making ten or twelve dozen and handing them out to friends and acquantences.

Feel free to stop by about 2 PM today and you might be able to get a few samples...

Never Forget

"A Day That Will Live In Infamy"

Say thanks to a Veteran today on the anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor...especially the few left from WWII.

There's only two left in my family...thanks for your service Uncle John and Aunt Mary.

Cold Morning In Knoxtown

Oh To Live On St. Simons Island Again...

We're really missing our Little Island this morning.  Even little Missy the Turbo Pup limits her time spent outside to trotting across the ice on the deck and stays outside only long enough to do her "business" and then she's blasting back inside through the doggie door.

I have a ton of stuff that I managed to not get done out in the yard before it turned cold and now it's just not my style to go out and work in the crunchy dusting of snow we've gotten over the past 24 hours.

The remnants of my poor old Tomato Plants are still slouching on their cages and supports in the back yard, my Crepe Myrtles need pruning along with a bunch of other shrubs, and narry a Christmas light has been put up on the porch rails and in the evergreens out Front.

I should be in three dirrerent places at once this week, one of them being Indianapolis. Since it's a trip to take another  PLC programming class and I've screwed around and not bought a plane ticket so I'll probably scratch the event and reschedule for later in the winter or better yet wait for spring.

Then a client in Atlanta might need me down there and I have another new Injuneering Project I'm trying to close this week and of course the shop is full with three PLC panels which need completion and there's a couple of pneumatic valves that need tearing down and rebuilding and SooooOOOO...

...Blogging will be hit or miss this week, but I promise to be nice and not piss off any minority groups or diversity groups or endangered feces species as best I can.

But then again...you know me...a grouchy old angry, partly crippled, ever greying, ever balding slightly past middle aged white guy...

...sometimes I just can't help myself keep quiet and then all bets are off. So until next time

Regards Y'all

I'm Not Here Blogging To Make You Feel Good

You Can't Control What I Think Or Believe Either...

So the regular readers (and a zillion troll gay rights activist readers) may have noticed that I took the Blog down for a while this weekend.

Prior to that I disabled the comments section and I also had second thoughts about the viability of leaving a series of postings and comments up about some politically correct crap going on out there in the world which I personally happen to disagree with.

After thinking about things for a few days and actually offering an apology for the coarse verbiage and manner in which I first addressed the subject, and with said apology not stopping the unrelentless, escalating barrage of equally insulting comments here directed at me personally...including several threats of violence...

I've decided to bring this near 6 year old blog back up on line for pubic public access...

but with the comments thread still turned off for now because I'm tired of listening to what I consider to be the same old worn out liberal pablum calling me an eco-terrorist or a bigot or a racist or a homophobic no-neck Neanderthal (things I've been called over the course of my blogging experience.)

Frankly I don't give a crap what any anonymous moron or rocket scientist or even well intended "liberator of all things oppressive" thinks about me out there in the ether of cyber space and they're not going to change the way I think and my beliefs at this late point in my life.

BUT...

What last week's experiences with the coordinated landslide of opposition commentary here did reveal to me was the scope and range my commentary really had here on the Internet.

Thus, I again offer my apology for the way I addressed the subject in a public forum. Beyond that I will remain mute on the subject from here on out.

To all of the comment trolls and activists which stopped by to share your love and opinions, I suggest that you consider policing the attitudes and opinions and actions of those in your own ranks because the commentary I received was at least equal to and in many cases way more over the top--issued in my direction--than anything written by me here.

And finally, I offer that the actions taken against and in disagreement with me only served the purpose of making me realize that I was jeopardizing my participation in several upcoming VERY PROFITABLE business opportunities in the new year and in reality I don't want someone in those enterprises reading a thread like last weeks and dumping me because of the controversy.

So you see, my dear readers and haters, it's not FEAR or COWARDICE under your hysterical onslaught driving my decision making, it's a profit motive which guides my actions and decisions

Not your silly insults and threats.  Got it?

So you can add the label of HARD CORE CAPITALIST to your list of things you hate about me, because I'm going to make as much money in 2011 as I can--more than probably 95% of you--and keep voting to give as little as possible to the government so they can support people sitting on their lazy butts cramming themselves into other peoples lives and wallets.

Y'all have a LOVELY day now...if you will...
